CCSU is a community of learners dedicated to teaching and to scholarship. we prepare students to be thoughtful, responsible, and successful citizens. at central, students come first. our undergraduate curriculum, nationally recognized for its excellence by the association of american colleges & universities, offers 100 majors in more than 80 fields of study. students can pursue academic research, career-starting co-op programs and internships, and a growing array of community engagement activities.

Programs of Study
Carol A. Ammon School Of Arts & Science
The Ammon School of Arts & Sciences offers programs leading to the bachelor of arts degree, bachelor of science degree, and bachelor of fine arts degree. these programs are designed to provide a broad liberal education; the subject matter background for specific careers, including teaching; and the preparation for graduate work in a number of academic fields and professions, including law and medicine.
The School of Education & Professional Studies
The school of education & professional studies prepares students to provide leadership and service in our communities. we prepare teachers, administrators, reading specialists and special educators for our schools, as well as nurses, social workers, exercise and fitness instructors, and counselors for a host of community and private agencies in need of skilled professionals.
The School of Business offers programs leading to the bachelor of science degree in business administration. within our region we provide the opportunity for an education in the field of business that is recognized by our stakeholders for its quality. the aim of our degree programs is to provide students with a broad educational foundation to prepare for responsible citizenship and leadership roles in business and society — domestic and worldwide.
Designated as a "center of excellence" by the state of connecticut, the school of engineering and technology provides educational opportunities in an array of engineering, technological and scientific disciplines. faculty teaching and research focuses on both theory and its practical application to solving problems. we prepare students to meet dynamic engineering, technological and scientific challenges as leaders and members of engineering, technical, management, research, biomedical, and educational teams.
The School of Graduate Studies is a community of scholars devoted to increasing human awareness and understanding through scholarly inquiry, research, and study in specialized disciplines. the aim of graduate education is to provide students with the knowledge and skills to make contributions to their discipline and to the rapidly changing world. graduate programs lead to the degrees of master of science; master of arts; master of arts in teaching; sixth-year certificates in mathematics, in reading, and in educational leadership; and an edd in educational leadership.
Study Abroad Information
Study in another country - whether you are there for a few weeks, a semester, or a full year - is so much more than just traveling and being a tourist. overseas study is an opportunity for you to gain valuable, first-hand international experience that will improve your chances of landing a job and will greatly expand your career options. as a major in the school of arts and sciences you will have the opportunity to learn, for example, about the history, economy, ecology, politics, music, indigenous cultures, human rights, and legal systems of different countries. you will have the possibility of sharing ideas with with scientists, activists, and artists from around the world.
The international and area studies faculty encourages students to study abroad. ccsu sponsors exchange agreements with a wide variety of universities throughout the world. as an international & area studies major, you can study at virtually any of ccsu's partner universities, depending on your language skills and regional specialization. ccsu offers a wide variety of programs in countries al over the globe; programs that will suit your needs and enhance your educational experience. opportunities available to you include those in chile, korea, ghana, germany, and many more locations.
