    From its roots as one of Ohio's original four-corner universities, Kent State University celebrates 100-years of teaching and research excellence to serve the public good -- service which will continue into its second century and beyond.     The Intercollegiate Athletic program at Kent State University competes at the highest National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I level (FBS for football) and provides select men and women with the opportunity, challenge and support to achieve their full academic and athletic potential, while operating as an integral part of the University's educational mission.

    What We Can Do

    1. Foster an understanding of diversity through academic curricular initiatives and programs.
    2. Monitor faculty searches and hiring practices to ensure appropriate diversity in recruitment and facilitate identification of available candidates.
    3. Be the primary connection with Regional Campus leadership on diversity issues.
    4. Interact with all university divisions on diversity issues and programs.
    5. Interact with the Women's Resource Center, the Department of Pan-African Studies, the Pan-African Faculty and Staff Association, the African Community Association, the Center for International and Comparative Programs, and other units where appropriate.
    6. Play a major role in faculty professional development initiatives in collaboration with the provost and the director of the Faculty Professional Development Center.
    7. Strengthen the connections between the Office of Diversity and academic colleges, schools and departments, as well as other divisions.
    8. Play a leadership role in faculty and staff development initiatives on diversity issues.
       
    9. Establish links with individuals and departments that support and advocate for diverse populations.
    10. Play a more visible role in the recruitment and retention of a more diverse faculty and staff.
    11. Plan the university Diversity Dinner Dance.
       
    12. Direct the African-American Scholarship Program.
